What We Believe

If someone asks you about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it. (NLT, 1 Peter 3:15)

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of the Warner Robins church of Christ based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

God

We believe in the one true God revealed in the Bible. He spoke the world into existence and sustains all things today. God remains active and involved in this world and in our individual lives (Gen. 1:1; Heb. 1:10-12, 11:3).

We believe that God exists in three distinct personalities: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (2 Cor. 13:14; John 1:1, 14; John 16:12-15).

At the Warner Robins church of Christ, we trust that God knows what’s best, He is all knowing (1 John 3:20). Thus, we strive to seek and do His will – to put aside our own preferences for His.

Divine Revelation

We believe the Bible is authored by God Himself (2 Tim 3:16). We believe the Old Testament tells the story of how God worked His plan to save man through the lineage of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. We believe God inspired thirty-nine books in the Old Testament (Romans 15:4) and 27 books in the New Testament (Heb 1:1-2). These books tell of God’s redemptive plan to save man through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.

God has revealed Himself to us through His Son, Jesus Christ, who is the visible image of the invisible God (Col. 1:15).

Mankind

Humans, both male and female, were created in God's image (Gen.1:26-27). The first humans, Adam and Eve, were created without sin and given glory by God over the rest of His creation, allowing mankind to rule over the works of God's hands (Gen. 1:31; 2:15; Psa. 8:4-8).

The Fall

When Adam and Eve chose not to obey God, they ceased to be what they were made to be and became distorted images of God. This caused them to fall out of fellowship with God, and it brought sin into the world. Along with sin came death. The reason innocent people suffer and die, and the reason temptation exists around us is because of the choice of Adam and Eve to disobey. We do not inherit the blame or guilt of their sin, but we are affected by the consequences of their sin. Our own sin is what separates us spiritually from God.

Salvation

When we sin, we set ourselves on a path to be eternally separated from God. Since God is the source of good, eternal separation from Him means eternal separation from anything and everything that is good. What an abysmal outcome that would be!

Thankfully, Jesus Christ came to make us right with God. He lived a life without sin and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions. God raised him from the dead and now, by grace, offers as a free gift eternal life to all who follow Christ, by faith, as their Lord and Savior. When a person believes the truth and obeys it by being baptized, several things happen: his sins are forgiven, he is born again, he is set free from the power and penalty of sin, he is made alive together with Christ, and he is saved. God's free gift is extended to all, but only those who accept this gift will enjoy its eternal blessings.

The Church

The church is the body of Christ—the collection of all saved souls alive on earth. The church carries out the God's work in this sin-sick world. We proclaim the good news about the salvation Jesus offers through His death and resurrection, the unity of Christians in the one body of Christ, and do the good works that God has prepared for us to do.

Ressurection

The Bible says that all will be raised on the final day—either to eternal life, or to eternal punishment. We will be reunited with loved ones who have died in the Lord, and we will be raised with new, incorruptible bodies. All of the pain, sorrow, and temptation that Christians endure in this life will be no more. But for those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus, a terrible eternal outcome awaits. Knowing that these are the only two outcomes points us to the better of the two.
